Season 1: Reclaiming Power Beyond the Interface (In Development)

Season 1 of Beyond Pixels is designed as a ten-part investigative sequence. Each episode stands alone, but together they operate like a slow reveal:

We begin with the assumption that "more technology = better life." We interrogate the systems beneath that belief. We peel away layers of hype, surveillance, automation, and design persuasion. We conclude with a framework for reclaiming agency in a digital world.

A challenge to the idea that technological acceleration automatically equals a better life. This episode sets the foundation for the season: questioning who defines "progress" and what it actually produces.

An examination of smart homes, cities, and wearables. Who benefits? Who is surveilled? How does "convenience" conceal systemic forms of data extraction and control?

Episode 3 – The Cult of Innovation

An analysis of "innovation" as modern marketing religion. We explore how disruption narratives often repackage capitalism and obscure structural issues.

Episode 4 – Robots Aren't Taking Your Job, Systems Are

A reframing of automation: the threat isn't robots, but the systems optimizing for productivity, control, and profit—redefining labor and human value.

Episode 5 – AI Is Not Trying to Help You

A dismantling of the "empathetic machine" myth. Bias, manipulation, and human decisions shape AI systems that claim neutrality or care.

Episode 6 – Your Interface Is Lying to You

A deep dive into dark patterns, nudges, and persuasive design. We examine how interfaces shape behavior, belief, and decision-making.

Episode 7 – "Tech for Good" Is Itself a System

A critique of the "tech for good" narrative: is it altruism, or polished PR layered over extractive industry incentives?

Episode 8 – When the Grid Goes Dark

A thought experiment: what collapses if our digital infrastructure disappears overnight? What social structures remain? What does that reveal about dependency?

Episode 9 – The Human Is Not a Bug

A critique of the idea that friction, imperfection, and emotion are design flaws. We explore how treating humanity as inefficiency erodes meaningfulness.

Episode 10 – Reclaiming Our Power Beyond Pixels

A closing framework for intentional technology engagement. The episode extracts practices for reclaiming agency and community-driven technological futures.
